It’s always bothered me that you can’t feed your fish in the Sims 4 so I’ve added a simple version of it. Every 8 hours Teen-Elder sims can feed the fish and get a 4 hour happy buff. It also gives a bit of a Responsibility boost. There is an addon for Children to feed fish as well, but it’s not currently basegame compatible and requires Eco Lifestyle. All sims can now talk to fish to increase their social need as well.
These are overrides to the EA objects, giving them a custom tuning. It shouldn’t conflict with anything unless you have something else that happens to modify these objects specifically, but please let me know if you have any problems with it.

Addons
- Without this addon only teen-elder will be able to feed the fish.
- If I find a better basegame animation this addon will be removed.
- Does not actually require the main mod.
- This simply changes the EA "Talk to Fish" interaction to work for child mermaids. This will conflict with anything else that overrides that interaction.
- If you have IL and don't install this you will have a weird scenario where children can talk to fish unless they're mermaids. Nothing game breaking, but perhaps immersion breaking.
- Please note that this functionality is faked. You can't add your own fish to the table, it just has the fake ones that animate by default. I tried to customize it, but the fish animations don't fit within the confines of the table.

Known Issues
- The animations don’t look exactly like they’re going in the bowl/aquarium but use your imagination. I’m not an animator so I’ve gotta work with what already exists.
Future Plans
- Find a basegame compatible animation for kids
- An alternate version that includes a food object
Thank you!

Patch Notes
- Added Portuguese translation from AllGeek
- Fixed an incorrect tuning ID in the FeedPetsChild addon. If you downloaded v1.4 earlier please update to v1.4.1
- Updated the FeedPetsChild addon to work with the new mod I'm posting this evening.
- This is shared tuning so as long as you get v1.4 from one of these posts you don’t need to download it 4 times.
- Added an addon for the My First Pet aquarium table. This is an addon and not part of the main mod because it’s totally faking the functionality. You can’t add your own fish to the table, it just has the fake ones that animate by default. I tried to customize it, but the fish animations don’t fit within the confines of the table.
- Updated the FeedPetsChild addon to work with the new table.
- I realized that having Separate, Merged, and Merged by pack was probably confusing so I’ll be slowly updating all my mods to use a new structure.
- Starting with v1.4.1 the Separate download has been discontinued.
- Renamed the files to better reflect the mod name
- Now there are two downloads: Merged and ByPack. – Merged contains all objects in one file. – ByPack contains a TUNING file and one file per pack. You can pick and choose the packs you have/want – Each download also contains a file explaining this.
- Please delete your existing files and redownload one of the new zips because the renamed files won’t overwrite the old ones.
- Added the marimo fishbowl from Snowy Escape. I’m stupid and all this time I thought it was literally just a tank of marimos and not a proper fishbowl! So now it works just like the other fishbowls.
- Added the missing hidden tags for Chinese Simplified.
- Added Polish translation from JOKERS
- Brand new search functionality! I’m slowly adding hidden tags to my objects so you can find them by searching for “Ilex” (that’s an uppercase i at the beginning if you can’t tell). In English you can also search for “Fish” and have these come up if they didn’t already.
- Added Russian translation from OLOVOS
- Added Czech translation from Mikaela_Lovett
- Added custom thumbnails so you can tell at a glance where they came from.
- Behind the scenes fix for my strings. You won’t actually see a change in game, but the old way risked conflicting with my own mods as well as others.
- Updated the shared tuning file to work with my new Feed Your Pets: Feedable Frogs mod
- Updated the FeedPetsChild file for Feed Frogs to v1.2
- Updated this mod to rely more on the shared tuning
- Nothing in this update is particularly important if you’re not using the Feed Frogs mod and the ones that are needed for that mod are also included on that post. This is just to keep things consistent.
- Split out some tuning so it can be shared with upcoming mods. Ilex_ALL_FeedPetsShared is required for this mod to work.
- Added the ability for non-mermaids to talk to fish. This should work just fine without Island Living but if you don’t have IL and experience an issue please let me know.
- Renamed the Eco Lifestyle child addon to be more generic and added functionality needed for upcoming mods.
- Added an Island Living addon. By default child mermaids can’t talk to fish. This overrides that tuning and opens it to children. I don’t know why they couldn’t do it already since the animations are fine for children, but whatever.
- Changed how the merged folder is organized for ease of updates. If you install by merged pack you’ll now need to include a required tuning file. I’m going to organize the rest of my mods this way going forward and as I make updates. It’s better than having to do a bunch of merges just because I update one line in the tuning.
- IMPORTANT: The structure has changed a lot with this update. Please delete all old files because not everything will override.
