Home Repair: Damaged Walls

Jump to Patch Notes

I love the idea of building a very damaged house and fixing it up, but going into build mode to change decor doesn’t quite satisfy that for me.

So for this first in the series, I made the cracks and holes in the walls give negative environment and made them able to be repaired after inspecting the damage. Depending on how bad the damage is you’ll need different Handiness levels, but you can hire someone to fix it if you don’t have the skill. (Use common sense and put them where sims can access them of course)

These are overrides of a EA objects given custom tuning and moved to the Wall Sculptures category in build mode. This is to make them easier to find and to clean up the buy mode wall decorations a bit.

Details

There are a lot of objects and I didn't screenshot all of them but you get the idea. The images do have captions that hopefully explain and demonstrate some things at least.
  • Vampires Wall Cracks (5 versions)
  • Vampires Wall Holes (8 Versions)
  • Vampires Torn Wallpaper (2 versions)
  • Vampires Wall Scratches (2 versions)
  • Cats & Dogs Wall Scratches
  • Jungle Adventure Wall Cracks (2 versions)
  • Werewolves Wall Damage
Requires Vampires, Cats & Dogs, Jungle Adventure, or Werewolves. There is no basegame wall damage that I've found, sorry.
The new strings are in:
  • English
  • French
  • Polish
  • Russian
I don't speak any languages nearly well enough to translate this myself so I welcome any translations that anyone can offer and will credit all translators.
  • SER_KISYAN - Russian translation
  • Mircul - Polish translation
  • VanessaSims - French translation
  • More Home Repair mods that will include objects from more packs
  • I wasn't able to get these to work with a spawner, but I'm wondering if I can fake it somehow. No promises and nothing soon, but maybe one day I can get them to appear over time or after an event like an earthquake.
  • If you know of an item I missed let me know

Addons

The optional addon makes all repairs, including these, twice as expensive. As a homeowner I thought it was too cheap to get things fixed so now it's more impactful.

This addon removes the negative environment scores from the objects in the main mod.

Thank you!

Patch Notes

  • Discontinued the Alt version of the mod and replaced it with a new addon: DamagedWallsNoNeg. If you want no negative environment from the objects you can just include that addon with the main mod.
  • Removed retail option from these. You shouldn't be able to sell cracks and scratches!
  • Removed custom thumbnails to bring down file size and save myself some work going forward
  • Be sure to remove all old files before installing, especially if you were using the Alt version
  • Reduced the negative environment from each object. You’ll need to place more objects to see the negative buff, but it should keep sims from being miserable when you just want a little damage for aesthetic.
  • Added tooltips to tell you how much negative environment each object gives.
  • Added an alt version by request. This version does not have negative environment effects. Please read the instructions in the Downloads section and if you’re replacing the original version with the alt one be sure to delete your old files.
  • Added Werewolves wall damage. There are 10 swatches even though I only screenshotted one of them.
  • Added French translation from Vanessa Sims
  • Reuploaded the addon because the file didn’t upload properly the first time. Download again if you had problems with it.
