This is something very different from what I usually make, but I’m really excited about it!
A new way to get PlantSims as well as some adjustments to the trait and an addon for some pack integration.
IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS!
As always, please let me know if you run into any bugs with this. It’s a whole new thing for me so I definitely won’t pretend I’m 100% confident there aren’t any.
Details
The Spawner part of this mod adds a new object with new functionality:
- A stump that looks like the original, but instead of growing a tree to turn your sim into a PlantSim, spawns a PlantSim toddler as the child of your sim and their partner. You still need the seeds, but you can cheat it if you want, same as the original.
- This is intended to somewhat imitate how PlantSims used to reproduce by growing their children from the ground, but it's not locked to PlantSims to do it. Anyone (teen-elder) can spawn a PlantSim toddler.
- This is not intended for use without the Motive Overhaul part of the mod. The toddler and child motives will be broken.
The Motive Overhaul part changes and limits PlantSim motives to be more similar to those in past games:
- Removed Energy motive in addition to Bladder
- Hunger is renamed to "Sunlight"
- Water is now replaced with a new "Water" motive that's a renamed Hygiene and should now work correctly for children and toddlers (toddler's water need will go down slowly because toddler hygiene goes down slowly without dirty diapers)
- This fixes the bugginess of toddler and child PlantSim motives (since they were not intended to be PlantSims initially)
- This can be used as a standalone mod if you don't want the Spawner part of it.
- Be warned that this overrides the Hunger aand Hygiene motives and will conflict with any other mod that does so. I would love to figure out a way to not override something so major, but from what I can tell even the XML Injector doesn't have a thing for that.
- Both parts of this mod are intended to be used with Gauntlet’s Plantsim Trait Edits & Objects. Not only does it make the PlantSim state permanent which is needed, but without this mod, children and toddler PlantSims will have some serious weirdness.
- My Motive Overhaul must be placed in the same folder as Gauntlet’s mod so that it overrides correctly. Don’t change the names either or it might not work.
- The Spawner is not intended for use without the Motive Overhaul part of the mod. The toddler and child motives will be broken.
- I can’t promise that this will work as expected with other PlantSim mods, but if you keep the filenames the same and put them in the same folder to override you can give it a try anyway.
- The spawning functionality is based on the Romantic Garden Stuff wishing well. It shouldn’t require that pack, but if you have an issue with it and don’t have that pack let me know.
The new strings are in English, French, and Russian only at the moment. I don’t speak any languages other than English nearly well enough to translate them so I welcome any translations that anyone can offer and will credit all translators.

- New trait for PlantSims that are infected by the Motherplant. PlantSims who become infected or infected sims who become PlantSims will get the "PlantSim of the Motherplant" trait
- These sims have a custom overlay instead of the green one
- They are also more connected to the Motherplant and can walk through spores and communicate with her without becoming possessed.
- However, because they're so connected they can't be cured of the infection. It's permanent! (Okay, yes you can cheat it, but humor me)
- If anyone more artistic than me wants to try their hand at a better overlay I welcome the help and will provide credit and thanks of course!
